    Chicken cooked in Poppy Seeds paste

    Chicken cooked with poppy seeds is very delicious Indian recipe .It can be served with rice, pulao or roti.   


    Ingredients:
              500gm of Chicken
              2tbsp Posto (white Poppy seeds)
              1tbsp Cumin seeds
              1tbsp Coriander seeds
              1tbsp Funnel seeds
              1big-sized Onion (sliced)
              1Tomato (sliced)
              ½ tsp Turmeric powder
              1tsp Ginger-Garlic paste
              1 tsp of Red pepper powder
              ¼ cup Yogurt
              2-3 Cardamom
              1inch Cinnamon 
              2tbsp of oil or butter
              2 Bay leaf
              ½ tsp Garam masala powder
              Salt to taste

    Method:
              Marinate this Chicken with yogurt, salt and 1 tsp of Red pepper powder. Leave it aside for at least 1hrs.
              At first dry roast Cumin, Coriander and Funnel seeds on low flame by adding some salt and blend into a smooth powder.
              Soak white poppy seeds in enough water and blend into a smooth paste.
              Heat a pan on medium heat and add oil, when oil is hot add Cardamom, Cinnamon and Bay leaf. After that add Onions. Fry the Onion till they get brown in color.
              Now add Ginger Garlic paste and cook for about 2min.
              Then add Turmeric powder, Red pepper powder ,dry roasted spices powder and salt. Then add little water to it and give it a good mix.
              Add tomato and cook for about 2min.
              After the paste is well fried, add the marinated Chicken pieces. Stir for few minutes then cover the pan for about 10 min and lower the flame.
              Now remove the lid add poppy seeds paste Add some water as required, mix well and cover it for 10 to15 more min. on low flame.
              Sprinkle Garam masala powder. And mix them well. Cook it few more min.
              Sprinkle coriander leaves.
              Serve hot with naan, rice or roti.
