    Oats Khichdi

    Oatmeal Khichidi tasted almost exactly like other khichidi, it is a very healthy and balanced and perfect for breakfast.


    Makes/Serves: 2 to 3 servings

    Ingredients:
               1 cup Oats
              1/4 cup yellow split Moong dal 
              1 tsp Mustard seeds
              2tbsp chopped Onion
              2tbs chopped Carrots
              2tbsp chopped Beans
              1 tsp chopped green Chili
              1/2 tsp Garlic chopped
              1/2 tsp Ginger chopped
              1/2 tsp Turmeric powder 
              1/2 tsp Chili powder
              1/2tsp Cumin powder
              1/2 tsp Coriander powder
              2 tsp Oil
              Salt to taste

    Method:
               Wash the moong dal and drain all the water.
              Heat the oil in a pressure cooker, add mustard seeds.
              When they start spluttering add the green Chili, Garlic, Ginger, Onions, Turmeric powder, Chili powder, Cumin and Coriander powder and sauté on a medium flame for a few seconds.
              Add carrots and beans , sauté for about 1min.
              Now add the oats and moong dal and salt, sauté on a medium flame for 2 to 3 min, and stir continuously.
              Add  about 3cups of water, mix well and pressure cook for 2 whistles.
              Allow the steam to come out before opening the lid.
              Serve immediately.
