Chana Dal has low glycemic index.
It is very good for diabetic patients.
Ingredients:
•
1cup chana dal (soaked in water for
1 hr. )
•
1 finely chopped Tomato
•
1 finely chopped Onion
•
2 red Chilies broken
• 1tsp Ginger Garlic paste
• 1/2 tsp Cumin seeds
•
1/2 tsp Mustard seeds
•
1/2 tsp Chili powder
•
1/2 tsp Coriander powder
• 1/2 tsp Turmeric powder
•
1 to 1/2 tsp garam masala powder
•
2 tbsp Oil or ghee
•
Chopped coriander leaves
•
3 to 4 cups water
•
Salt as required
Method:
•
In pressure cooker heat
oil or ghee. Add cumin seeds and Mustard seeds, let them splutter. .
•
Then add the Ginger Garlic
paste and Red chili. Fry them for a minute.
•
Add onion and salt cook it
for about 2to 3min on medium heat.
•
Now add the chopped Tomatoes,
Turmeric powder, Coriander powder and Garam masala powder and fry the masala
well on a low flame till the tomatoes and onion become soft and mushy.

Now add the dal to this fried
tempering mixture and mix well.Then add 3 cups of water and pressure cook the dal for 3-4 whistles or
till they are completely cooked. If the dal mixture look thick, then add some more water and stir to get a medium consistency in the dal. Simmer the dal for about
5to 8 min.

Garnish the dal with coriander
leaves.
•
Serve chana dal with rotis, rice,
jeera rice.
