Home-style Fried Chicken

KFC style fried chicken are loved by many but many cannot eat them as they are not available as ‘Halal’ outside Gulf.  I tried this recipe on my own and came out good.

Makes/Serves: 6 Pieces

Ingredients:
·      6 chicken leg pieces
·      1 egg, beaten

·      1 cup buttermilk

·      1 cup all-purpose flour
·      1/2 cup corn flour

·      1 tsp ground oregano

·      1 tsp  chili powder

·      1 tsp dried basil

·
1 tsp black pepper
·
2 tsp salt
·
2 tsp paprika

·      1 tsp onion salt

·      1 tsp. garlic powder
·
4 cup corn flakes crumbs
·      Oil for deep fry

Method:
·       Combine egg and buttermilk and salt in bowl, Soak chicken in mixture for about 3hr.
·       Add flour and corn flour to a separate bowl and mix with spices and herbs. Add water to make a tick batter.
·       Roll chicken in seasoned flour mixture.
·      In another bowl take the corn flakes crumbs and roll the chicken pieces until completely covered and leave them aside.
·      In a large frying pan heat the oil.
·      Fry the chicken pieces for 5to 8 minutes until golden brown.
·      Remove chicken and drain on paper towels or rack.

Recipe Credit: I tried the recipe myself

Cook Tip: Instead of using corn flakes crumbs you can use bread crumbs. You can also use the cornflake cereal and roll them to desirable size, I prefer doing that.
